wha' happen?

howdy. it's been a while since the last proper update, so i figured i'd use whats left of my lunchtime to blog a bit of YAK news. it's like CNN, but more focused.

so, where we at? as of right now, we're 4 songs into recording the as-yet untitled album. its already my favourite album of 2009. looks like it's gonna be 9 songs. epic, heavy and variants thereof. all good.

we're looking at an early 2009 release now, on both CD and a super limited vinyl pressing too. hopefully we'll have either an EP of non-album material, or possibly a wee live EP to put out at some point before the full length drops... but we'll keep you in the loop either way.

i reckon we'll have a few gigs before the end of the year, to stop us all becoming studio-mental. we'll have more YAK tv again soon too. until then, stay tuned to ineedmusik.com for all kinds of wonderful audio entertainment. YAK news, over and out.

Side-Projects Ahoy-hoy!

This coming Saturday 26th July, Dunc and Keef's side project TERESA BANKS will be terrorizing the good folks at Reverb (formerly known as Sound Control) on Jamaica St, Glasgow @ 12noon. Free gigs don't happen every day, certainly not of this calibre. Anyone thats witnessed the 'Banks mob in action will know that good times are pretty much guaranteed. DAE IT!

Also, last week, Dunc and myself finally recorded some material for our improv stoner metal band A GLOWING BLACK, which you can download here. The idea of AGB has been kicking about since we used to be Diadem - in fact, A GLOWING BLACK opened up at the first ever YAK show at the Barfly back in 2005 - and it's awesome to finally have some music to attatch to the name. Give it a blast, and be sure to strap yourself in tight... around about the 6:20 mark, you'll need something to hold on to.

Back in YAK land, the album preperation is going well. I guess we're in "pre-production", which basically means that the songs are being thoroughly tested, re-arranged and tinkered with until everything is at optimum levels of bombastic, tuneful, mathrock madness. Drum tracking will start very soon, but to keep you hooked, we'll have a special video treat for you within the next couple of weeks.

YAK TV IS ALMOST HERE.
